Vietnamese victory for Solar Solve Marine

Vietnam has become Solar Solve Marine’s 50 th export country with an order from a UK based shipowner with whom they have a very close and successful working relationship, for $5,000 for their world famous SOLASAFE anti glare roller screens for navigation bridge windows.

“The market is currently buoyed by the recent legislation directed at the marine industry relating to crew fatigue management,” explains chairman John Lightfoot. “This customer is already well aware of the need to look after its ships personnel and we have enjoyed working with them for more than 12 years. They are a prolific purchaser of new vessels and take advantage of emerging markets like Vietnam, China and India as well as Eastern Europe, where shipbuilding is seen as one of the ways in which these countries can develop. It does mean of course that we have to be competitive on price as well as quality of product and service.”

There are many Crew Endurance Risk Factors that shipowners need to be aware of. Living quarters and working environment are two where South Shields based Solar Solve Marine’s specialist roller blind products can and do help to overcome them.

The fact that Vietnam has enabled Solar Solve to realize this exceptional achievement of 50 th export country has a special significance for the chairman and his wife Lilian, who is also a director and company secretary. Just after they were married in 1967 they spent 3 months trading between Singapore and Vietnam during the conflict, when John was Second Engineer on the Shell tanker Anadara. Since then they have both felt a special empathy towards the country.
