In October UK based Solar Solve Marine received three orders to supply additional SOLASOLV® class approved roller screens to the Cap Lara, Cap Felix and Fraternity.

The vessels are owned and operated by Euronav Shipmanagement, one of the world’s leading independent tanker companies with a large fleet of modern tankers.  All three vessels are Suezmax tankers and were built at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. Cap Lara was built in 2007, Cap Felix was built in 2008 and Fraternity was built in 2009.

SOLASOLV® anti-glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. They are regarded as an essential safety product, effectively rejecting up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun to significantly reduce eye-strain.  Visual displays are easier to read and a clear outward view is maintained for safer navigation and marine operations.  A more comfortable room temperature means the ships’ crew are less prone to fatigue which can cause human error.  Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, SOLASOLV® screens are guaranteed for 7 years and Type Approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV.

Paul Hopkins, Sales & Marketing Executive commented, “SOLASOLV® screens were supplied by our Korean Distributor when the vessels were originally built.  Although the three orders were not for very large quantities this order shows that shipowners are still willing to invest in their ships by adding additional equipment, despite challenging times, to improve the working environment for their crew.”
