The first order to be processed by South Shields based Solar Solve Marine in October, was for a consignment of SOLASAFE roller sunscreens, the company’s most popular product, to be shipped to the USA for installation at the wheelhouse windows of USNS Kanawha, a Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler of the United States Navy. This the second order for the vessel, the first one being in October 2008.

Over the years Solar Solve is very proud of the fact that they have supplied a range of their products, but mainly the SOLASAFE product, to 29 different US Naval ships, most of them returning for more at various times in their life. In the photo is USNS Walter Diehl, another Fleet replenishment oiler, who’s crew also benefit from SOLASAFE anti-glare screens.

Solar Solve Marine’s founder and chairman, John Lightfoot, commented, “Because of the global role the USA plays in trying to maintain world peace, their naval vessels are everywhere and the opportunities to trade with them are open to suppliers all over the world. My company is very proud of its achievements in dealing successfully with such an important and discerning customer and we will continue to work hard to ensure we remain one of their suppliers.”

Fleet replenishment oiler USNS Walter Diehl draws alongside a US aircraft carrier to supply the giant floating city with vital fuel oil via a replenishment-at-sea operation.

Solar Solve Marine’s SOLASAFE retractable ant-glare roller sunscreens are installed at Walter Diehl’s navigation bridge windows as a safety aid, to benefit the ship’s personnel whilst performing the very dangerous operation.
