Solar Solve Marine, the South Shields, UK based manufacturer of the world’s leading brands of Type Approved  roller sunscreens and roller window blinds for ships windows, has announced a substantial increase in orders from Japan since the start of 2018.

One of the many vessels that have been supplied is the Capesize Bulk Carrier “CSK ENTERPRISE”, the second vessel in a series of 2, was delivered to its new owners, TCC Group at the end of April.  The vessel was christened by Miss Emily Koo, a member of the Board of Directors and daughter of Mr. Kenneth Koo, TCC Group Chairman and CEO and is chartered to NS United for a five year time charter.

The 208,660 DWT vessel was built by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. at  its Marugame Shipyard and is the sister vessel to “CSK UNITED”, that was delivered to TCC Group in August 2017.

The navigation bridge windows of both ships are equipped with SOLASAFE roller sunscreens to protect personnel from solar heat, glare and uv light, thereby creating a safer and more comfortable working environment.

John Lightfoot, MBE, chairman of Solar Solve Marine explained, “Although the approximate delivery date of most new builds is known 12 to 24 months before the event,  we are always amazed but never surprised when we receive ‘TOP URGENT’ requests for our products.  The order for 13 SOLASAFE sunscreens for CSK ENTERPRISE was received on 9th April and we were able to manufacture and dispatch them on the same day, so that they could be in place for the handover ceremony in Marugame, on the 26th April.”

John continued, “Solar Solve has 3 very active World Wide Distributors based in Japan and it is thanks to their determined efforts that by the end of August this year, we will have equalled our sales to Japan for the whole of last year.  Another impressive achievement is that Solar Solve products will be installed on around 50 of the vessels delivered by Japanese shipyards during the first 8 months of 2018.  This is not just good news for our company but also for Tyneside and the UK.”
