In early March, South Shields UK based Solar Solve Marine, the iconic manufacturer of Type Approved roller blinds and roller sunscreens for the global marine market reached yet another nautical milestone. This time they celebrated their 10,000th order since re-locating to a brand new facility in the Port of Tyne at the beginning of 2006.

Not unnaturally the order was manufactured and dispatched to the company’s biggest customer, Samgong Industry Co. Ltd. based in Busan Korea. Whilst Solar Solve’s most famous product is the world’s brand leading SOLASOLV anti-glare roller screens for Navigation Bridge windows that reject glare, heat and uv light; this particular order was for the supply of 96 LITETITE blackout roller blinds from the company’s Type Approved ROLASOLV range. Being of particular benefit to shift workers, they are destined for the accommodation windows of a new living quarter platform for Phase 2 of Total Exploration’s Ofon oil and gas field which is 40Km off the coast of Nigeria.

Another unusual factor was the value of the order, at around 10 times the average order value from this customer; it really was significant and timely.

John Lightfoot, founder and chairman of Solar Solve Marine commented, “For the past 25 years Solar Solve and I have worked in partnership with Samgong Co. and its highly respected chairman H R Zong for the mutual benefit of our companies, our customers and employees. I am particularly proud of the fact that when he was a young man in the mid nineteen fifties, chairman Zong spent a few years on Tyneside studying at King’s College, Newcastle where he gained a B.Sc. Degree in Naval Architecture in 1956. He still holds fond memories of his time there and it is to Solar Solve’s credit that we have maintained his faith in the Tyneside area by continually supplying his substantial business empire with the best Quality Products and Service in such a highly competitive market place.”

“Everyone at Solar Solve holds Chairman Zong and his great team of professional engineers and managers in the highest regard. It is very appropriate that they have been involved in this significant milestone in Solar Solve’s history: our ten thousandth order since relocating to the Port of Tyne, of very high value and for a substantial quantity of LITETITE blinds, a product that is now our second Brand Leading success.”
