South Shields based Solar Solve Marine has just received another order from Italthai Marine Ltd in Thailand.

The shipbuilder, based in Samut Prakarn in the Gulf of Thailand near Bangkok, has been building a series of Platform Supply Vessels (PSV’s) over recent years for companies such as Halul Offshore Services in Qatar and Opielok Reederei in Germany.

The SOLASOLV® brand of anti glare roller screen was specified in the original design and 28 SOLASAFE ® roller screens have been supplied to the shipyard for the navigation bridge windows over a period of three years. This latest order for PSV Number 4 represents the nine successive orders supplied to Italthai Marine.

SOLASAFE® roller screens are manufactured using a specialist shade film to protect bridge crew against the harmful effects of sun glare and solar heat, whilst offering a clear outward view for safer navigation. The film is tinted to lower brightness levels which significantly reduces eye-strain, ensuring modern bridge equipment displays are easier to read and human errors are less likely to occur. An aluminium layer laminated inside the polyester film rejects heat to reduce fatigue by creating a more comfortable and cooler working environment for crew. There is also less demand on bridge air-cooling systems, which consume fuel when operating, so environmentally conscious fleet owners can benefit from fuel savings while lowering their CO₂ emissions if they install SOLASOLV® screens at every window on the bridge.

Paul Hopkins, Solar Solve Marine’s Sales and Marketing Executive commented, “These regular orders from Thailand prove that even in these harsh economic times there is still a need to supply high quality British equipment. We hope to continue our long business relationship with Italthai Marine and are delighted that they have chosen the SOLASOLV® brand again.”
